Rachael has a disciplinary background in Social Anthropology and extensive experience conducting and leading research focusing on health and healthcare. She has particular interest in pain, pain management and older age and has used participatory and qualitative research methods to explore questions in these areas. Rachael usually publishes her work for clinical audiences, and involves patient-partners in the design and oversight of research studies, which have included stand-alone qualitative projects, mixed methods studies, clinical trials and cohort studies. With an interest in ethical practice in research, she currently works on the University of Bristol's Ethics of Research Committee. She is also a trustee of two of Europe's leading associations for Social Anthropologists and is active in disciplinary and topic-specific networks. Within SPHERE, Rachael's role is within Activity A.3.
